Dick Nourse on FEMA and Hurricane IKE

Having been in the news business for the past 43 years, Dick Nourse has made a lot of contacts, especially back in Texas where hurricane IKE just recently hit. He sometimes wonders if the news is telling the real story in order for FEMA and other government officials to save face on the lack of quick response to the victims.

Dick has had the opportunity to speak with some friends and family as well as colleagues down in the Houston area only to find out that some people are not getting the food quick enough, and when they do, much of it is frozen and requires cooking. The main problem is this, many people still don’t have power, and some don’t even have a functioning kitchen. Nourse has learned over the years from reporting on and seeing many emergency situations that the food brought in for the victims, should be food that does not require refrigeration. It should be light, portable, and easy to carry. It should give people a shot of nutrition and should taste good for young children.

Many people in the state of Utah where Dick has lived most of my life have a food and water supply in their homes. Some people have enough food and water to last their families for up to 2 years.

Now let’s think about this for a moment. Storing food and water at home makes sense if you happen to be at home when a disaster happens but what would happen if you had to leave your home or what if your home was destroyed like many of the folks in Texas?

Dick Nourse Speaks About U.N.’s Inadequate Funds For Africa’s Children

Yesterday, I spoke with Dick Nourse after watching major news stories. He was deeply concerned about what may happen if our economy doesn’t regain control. I have never heard Dick speak so passionately. He stated, “The U.N. does not have enough money to ensure that our own civilization survives because we are so busy investing in our own debt, that we can’t lend out a helping hand. That’s ridiculous. The people of Africa should be treated just as our own.”

He went on to say, “The victims of Hurricane Ike were receiving frozen foods from our government, when they had just been hit with a hurricane! They still have no power. How do you expect these people to cook frozen foods without any power?”

Stories like these are the reason Dick Nourse and I meet up every week to discuss our opinions on such tragic incidents. He is simply frustrated with sitting on the sidelines, watching the game. He said, “I can’t sit in retirement and watch disasters take millions of lives without trying to do something that can seriously help people. I strongly believe that in a situation like Ike, a bottle of LifeCaps would be unbelievably useful.”

It’s hard to disagree with Nourse. Our government complains they don’t have enough money to adequately finance America, yet they waste money on buying frozen foods for victims who are in a hurricane situation and are without power to even cook the food. As a second example, take a look at the white house proposing that the U.N. spend $700,000,000,000 on a bailout of financial markets, while the U.N.’s proposal for Africa is asking the rich nations to spend $72 billion a year.

Dick stated, “Just last week, gentlemen met with the owners of LifeCaps and are planning on introducing LifeCaps to the Indian military. They are very interested in acquiring the survival pill for emergency scenarios.”

Perhaps the U.N. should think about proposing a similar solution to save people’s lives in times of emergencies, just as India’s military is planning. Maybe the United States government should evaluate the benefits of sending LifeCaps, instead of frozen foods, to hurricane victims who are without power.

Where is Dick Nourse Now?

At the end of November, long-time KSL News anchor Dick Nourse retired, depriving Utah’s airwaves of his distinctive, authoritative voice for the first time in the memory of almost anyone living in Utah. Or, did it? As listeners to radio along the Wasatch Front can attest, that familiar, dignified, deep voice is now beaming from several area stations in support of a product that Nourse believes could literally change the world.

Most may have assumed that Nourse’s retirement would be just that, a retirement. The beginning of a life spent on the golf course, in the swift pursuit of leisure. But, not so for Nourse. During his illustrious career, there were many goals and aspirations that he was not able to achieve, primarily because of restrictions in his news contract. With his retirement from the news desk, he is now free to pursue those outside goals and interests.

He enjoys historical documentaries and has long been interested in lending his vocal talents to narrations and readings in such productions. In fact, he insists he is poised to be much busier working in his retirement than he ever was during his working career. But, the first of those projects to emerge into the public eye is something he never envisioned nor planned.

Dick Nourse has suddenly found himself as the public spokesman for LifeCaps, a revolutionary new product from the Salt Lake City-based company LifeCaps Neutraceuticals LLC. It was a move that surprised him more than it did anyone else because, throughout his career, Nourse has always refused out of hand the many previous offers he has had to endorse commercial products.

As a serious journalist, Nourse has adamantly refused to pitch products because of his belief, on principle, that a journalist must retain both his dignity and objectivity. And he still holds that opinion as strongly as ever. He insists no one will ever see him selling cars, appliances, or whatever. What then, makes LifeCaps different?

Nourse insists it’s the product itself. Believed to be the first pill ever developed containing 100% of all nutrients required to indefinitely sustain human life, according to Nourse, a person with at least 15% body fat could feasibly live for days, or even weeks, on water and LifeCaps alone. And, because the body is assimilating all of its required nutrients, hunger pangs are significantly reduced, or even eliminated, with LifeCaps.

Developed by Russ Bianchi, the world-renowned formulator of virtually all best-selling power bars and other nutritional and natural ‘green’ foods, at his Adept Laboratories, LifeCaps epitomizes the concept of science fiction turned science reality. Until now, a pill containing 100% of all nutrients a human being requires to live and remain healthy and invigorated has simply been fodder for writers and theorists.

With LifeCaps, the average person receives all the nutrition required to live and remain healthy, but not the calories. This enables the body to burn stored body fat for energy, so the person loses fat and weight until the body reaches a body fat level of 15%. As the average body reaches that low level of body fat, it becomes more difficult to burn enough fat to provide all the energy one might need, at which point an outside source of calories may be required.

They are the perfect solution to the nutritional requirements of any 72 hour kit or other emergency kit. A small bottle of LifeCaps could be included in every hiker’s or boy scout’s backpack and accompany any day of hunting, fishing, or ATV outing. They could even be an ideal solution for a soldier’s kit.

But it was the potential for global humanitarian relief that most interested Nourse, and was the reason he became a public proponent of LifeCaps.

He cited the countless natural and human-caused disasters he has witnessed throughout the world in his 43 years reporting the news. Hurricane Katrina, famine in Africa, and mass refugee camps during wars and following earthquakes in third world and developing nations. He pointed out the difficulties in getting enough food to those in need in such circumstances, and the countless millions who die while waiting for that relief.

LifeCaps is an ideal solution in the face of such global catastrophes. They can be transported and reach those who need help quickly and efficiently. There is no cooking or preparation needed. They can also provide immediate nutrition to those who may be too weak or ill to take solid food during the first crucial hours or days after they reach Red Cross or refugee relief centers.

Nourse felt that LifeCaps’ unprecedented potential to save lives was so important that he had to become involved. “The need throughout the world is simply too great, and when a solution such as this stares you in the face, it just can’t be ignored,” Nourse insists.
